15th Anniversary Party

Because we are celebrating our 15th year in business (starting in Dec and running the entire year of 2010) we decided to start the celebration off right with a party. We held the party right in our store on Sunday Dec 6th, and we all had a blast. It was so wonderful to be supported by our business associates, friends, and family. At certain parts during the party I just looked around and felt so thankful for all of the people in our lives that love and support us!


We had an amazing cheesecake from Simma's, which if you've never had Simma's cheesecake you are missing out. Because we wanted all of our guests to be entertained we had a company come in with a roulette wheel and poker tables to teach everybody how to play. ( And of course we gambled fake money not real!) Plus we had Elizabeth from Atelier Photography bring in her photo booth equipment so everyone could have a remembrance of the event. Which was hilarious because she had a box of props for the photos and everyone went a little nuts!

Thank you to all that came to celebrate with us, especially those who drove a distance to be here. We are so thankful to everybody in our lives, because without our staff, family, friends, and business partners we would not be here today celebrating our 15th year in this business. We truly love what we do and everybody in our lives makes it very possible to be the successful business we are today!

Portia Young From WISN Is An Amelishan Bride!

Portia Young from WISN-TV (Channel 12) came in today to start her search for her bridal gown and ended up finding her dream dress! She is having a Winter Wedding and her dress embodies the look that she is going for perfectly. I'm not giving any details, but she looked stunning in the dress.


She was wonderful to work with and we are so excited that she's An Amelishan Bride!!

Amelishan Bridal In Las Vegas

We just got back from a seminar in Las Vegas put on by Mon Cheri Bridal, and we had a blast. We got to take a tour of Vegas as well as sit in on sales seminars, meet the editors from Brides Magazine and The Knot, and get a little taste of what's to come for the bridal industry as a whole. And we are pumped from all that we learned and heard!
We feel that it is so important to stay updated in the bridal industry and to make sure that we offer our customers the very best in customer service, fashions, and information for planning their weddings. So 4 of us took the hike to Las Vegas for a grooling 3 day seminar that covers everything imaginable to stay on top of things in the bridal and fashion industry!
What we took home was not only valuable for our business but will be even more valuable for our customers as we will always stay updated with information and trends.
And of course we mixed work with a little bit of play and had a chance to see what Las Vegas was all about.

Ladies Day Out

We all had a blast at our Ladies Day Out Event held this past sunday November 22nd. A lot of Brides, Mothers, and Bridesmaids attended and saw the newest styles on our models during our fashion show. They also had a chance to meet some of our Preferred Vendors before the show started while sipping sangrias and tasting all the amazing appetizors Sheryl slaved in the kitchen over. Mon Cheri Bridal Seminar Held At Our Store!

We were both honored and very grateful that Steve Lang ( the President of Mon Cheri Bridals) and his team flew out to hold a seminar in our store this past Sunday and Monday. We scrambled to get everything perfect because not only were they coming to our store, but also because so were 80 other bridal store owners and staff! It was a bit stressful getting everything ready, only because we wanted it to be perfect for everyone. But it all played out flawlessly.

Thank you to all who made the long trip out to our store. We had a wonderful time hosting the seminar and meeting and talking to all of you!

Kim's Bridal Shower!

All of us here at Amelishan Bridal were so excited for Kim's Bridal Shower. She's getting married on Oct 3rd so we knew we had to have it soon. We decided we wanted it to be a surprise so we made up some excuse to all meet at The Mineshaft in Hartford for dinner. Which isn't too unusual for us so she had no idea it was going to be her shower.

We all got there early to set up and get ready and waited patiently for the Bride to Be to arrive. When she was about 6 minutes late I figured I'd give her a call, because after all what would we do if the bride forgot to come and never shows up?! So I gave her a call, and guess what, she forgot! She told us just to go ahead without her and she'd be there in an hour! I have never heard of the bride not showing up for her shower! So, we had to blow the surprise and tell her to get her butt over there because this was her surprise shower. LOL She felt so bad!

But we all had a blast, even while we were waiting for her to arrive. Below are some pictures of her with her presents and some of the whole group.

Pick Out A New Scent For Your Wedding Day

One of the wedding tips I love to give is to pick out a new perfume for your special day. It's wonderful because it's fresh and new for you and because scent is one of the biggest inhibitors of memory, if you wear it on special days or anniversaries your husband will smell you and wonder why he's feeling giddy and so in love again.

Start looking at least 2 months before so you can experiment with the scents and make sure that they react well with your chemistry and that none of them give you a headache or make you feel nauseous. The best way to do this on the cheap is to collect samples from department stores or Sephora. Just tell the makeup consultant what you're up to and they will be more than happy to dig up samples for you from the back or make the samples for you. Just remember to try different scents, from Sexy Siren Bride to Romantic Bride to determine what feel your going for on your wedding day.

When you've found the perfect scent don't forget to spray it on before you put on your wedding dress as some fabrics like silk and taffeta are easily stained by perfume. And save that sample to take with you on your Honeymoon, it'll be easier to pack than the regular size and less breakable. Try to save some until at least your first anniversary, because trust me, as soon as your Husband gets a whiff of you and the memories of your wedding day start rushing in, you won't be able to stop him from sniffing your neck!

Amelishan Isn't All About Weddings!

We're about baby's too! And when we found out that Megan, our Merchandising Manager was pregnant we were so excited. Megan has been with us for 2 years and has played such an important role in our family here. And she is so happy to be starting her own little family! We just had her Baby Shower and I wanted to share some of the photos with you all. I love all of the blue and brown gifts which are going to go in her Blue and Brown baby's room! (Yes, it's a boy!)
She's due in October so when you see her congratulate her! She's the cutest little glowing pregnant person I've ever seen!
